(Shelbyville) As folks around the globe prepare for to celebrate the centuries old tradition of Christmas, Shelbyville area residents are looking forward to a yuletide mainstay that has been going on for more than a decade. Friday marks the beginning of the 11th annual Shelbyville festival of lights in Forest Park in Shelbyville. Festival of Lights Committeeman Tad Mayhall explains that the event will begin with the always popular soup supper.

Mayhall says the high voltage event that attracts visitors from around the state and region, features an ever-growing array of lighted displays in forest park.

Following Fridays soup supper, the festival of lights is on display Sunday thru Thursday from 5-9 pm, and 5-10 Friday & Saturday in Forrest Park until December 28th.
